Upgrading from webMethods 6.5x to webMethods 8.x products suite
The article takes you through upgrading wM components from 6.5x to higher versions like 7.1.x/8.x

Scope: The webMethods suite has grown from being a cluster of components that provide A2A & B2B to highly scalable SOA, BPM , GUI capabilities. There are many integrations that were initiated in older versions like wM 6.5x but now need to be upgraded to current versions.
The below extract provides tips to overcome challenges in performing upgrades taking into case various components from wM which are as follows:
Integration Server -- : Many new utilities added in WmPublic , IS Clustering done using Oracle Coherance , Big Memory, Terracotta , Configure multiple proxies with each type of ports HTTP/S,FTP.
Broker --: Broker messaging tweaked and JMS implemented with it. Broker Server acts as JNDI provider.
Trading Networks -: TNConsole deprecated and shifted to MWS.
Portal --> MWS --: MWS comes as a complete monitoring tool for various components like ESB, Broker-JMS , TN,Optimize,Processes.
Modeler --> SAG Designer :Designer provides many developement perspectives like Service , Process , CAF-GUI , Process Simuation , DB etc.
Adapters --: Adapters have undergone changes but previous functionalities are maintained. Fixes need to be applied for inconsistent behaviour. Some adapters haven't changed till wM 8.xx
Web Services : WS can now use Endpoint Aliases , Fault Handling utilities added , more WS standards supported
The upgrade scripts need to be applied for all the respective database components.
Centrasite --: Full scale collaborative development and SOA lifecycle management tool.
