Answer:   The future for EAI is definitely bright. Application and data integration in the enterprise context has always been important, but it is even more true now, just think IoT, big data, mobile and chatbots. More and more companies are exploring new technology and new ways of creating a competitive advantage. Some play around new business models (e.g. repurposing data gained through sensors, like Caterpillar), some move gradually their whole infrastructure to the cloud.
There is already a substantial amount of new integration scenarios, like connecting chatbots with corporate systems and applications, or pushing data from devices and sensors through an IoT platform to enterprise applications and systems, or providing application marketplaces with inbuilt integration capabilities. Not to mention the still increasing popularity of APIs. Tools for EAI will certainly be in demand if not forever (one has to be cautious about using this word:-) ), then at least for a very long time.
